Your voice matters!
As the only UK patient organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) we know how important it is for your voices to be heard. That’s why we're sharing an opportunity for you to have your say in the current review of the National Liver Offering Scheme (NLOS).
While we know that liver transplant might not be a something that affects all PKD patients, for some, it’s essential. For those people, the system for prioritising people on the liver transplant waiting list is of utmost importance. We live in a time where demand for donated organs exceeds the supply, and care must be taken so that each precious liver donated is used in the fairest way possible with the goal of saving and improving lives.
Our friends at the British Liver Trust are working with NHS Blood and Transplant to support their review of the NLOS — the system that decides how livers from deceased donors are allocated to patients on the transplant waiting list. To ensure that patient voices are heard, they are seeking input from those who have undergone a liver transplant, individuals currently awaiting transplant and their families.

This is a complex issue with no easy answers. In addition to the British Liver Trust patient survey, liver patient groups have prepared a response to the review highlighting the concerns of the current system, which we at PKD Charity are fully signed up to — and we need your help to show just how many people care about getting this right.
